Recycling Tips for the Home, continued

Plastic

Most plastics can be recycled but due to the costs, it is only economical at present to recycle five types of plastic from the home:

PET code symbol PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) - e.g. soft drink bottles

HDPE code symbol HDPE (High density polyethylene) - e.g. milk and juice bottles

PVC code symbol PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) - e.g. juice and cordial bottles

PP code symbol PP (Polypropylene) - e.g. ice-cream containers and margarine tubs

EPS code symbol EPS (Expanded polystyrene) - e.g. white foam fruit boxes

A wider range of plastics from industrial sources can be recycled. Check with your Council to see what is accepted in your area.
